The Jersey City Poetry Festival Presents:
Nature Mandalas
and Land Art
as a STEM Learning Experience:
COMING SOON !
This event celebrates Jersey City—New Jersey’s second most populous and one of the most diverse cities in the nation—bringing our community together through creativity, culture, and connection.
All ages welcome. Natural materials provided.

Join us at the Jersey City Poetry Festival for a family-friendly workshop where you can create beautiful mandalas using flowers, leaves, stones, sticks, and other natural treasures. This is more than just a craft—it's a chance to connect with nature, explore STEM concepts, and enjoy a mindful, creative experience.
What to Expect
Creative Art: Arrange natural materials into colorful, circular patterns inspired by traditional mandalas from cultures around the world, including Hindu, Buddhist, Indigenous, and Guatemala’s Semana Santa traditions.
STEM Exploration: Learn about symmetry, geometry, patterns, and design—all through hands-on creation. Kids and adults alike can experiment with shapes, balance, and repeating patterns while connecting these concepts to the natural world.
Mindfulness & Nature: Crafting mandalas encourages focus, observation, and reflection. As you build your design, you’ll notice how patterns appear in flowers, shells, spiderwebs, tree rings, and more, illustrating the harmony in nature.
Temporary Art & Connection: Like traditional mandalas, these creations are meant to be enjoyed in the moment and then returned to the earth, reminding us of cycles, change, and our connection to the planet.

Whether you’re curious about art, science, or just looking for a fun outdoor activity, this workshop is for all ages. Come experiment, learn, and celebrate creativity and nature with your community!
Materials provided. No experience necessary. All ages welcome.
