As we prepare to commemorate the 250th anniversary of our nation’s independence, we invite residents of Jersey City to share their stories.

We are seeking oral histories, personal memories, and community tales that reflect the spirit of Jersey City—stories of triumph, joy, resilience, the way things once were, and hopes for the future. Whether it is a family memory, a neighborhood tradition, a moment that shaped your life, or a vision for the generations to come, your voice is an important part of our collective history.

Selected stories will become part of a growing community archive and exhibition honoring the voices and experiences that shape our city. Submissions may also be featured as part of the Annual Jersey City Poetry Festival on September 26, 2026.

We welcome written pieces as well as recorded or transcribed oral histories. Stories from residents of all ages, backgrounds, and neighborhoods are encouraged.

Help us preserve the living stories of Jersey City—past, present, and future.

If you are interested in sharing your personal stories CONTACT US HERE!
